The Mycology Unit of the Department of Microbiology, School of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, is staffed by highly specialized scientific personnel with extensive experience in medical and clinical mycology.
The Unit comprises faculty members, researchers, postdoctoral fellows, PhD candidates, postgraduate students, and specialized technical staff, who collaborate closely to support its research, diagnostic, and educational activities.
The personnel are responsible for the collection, isolation, identification, and preservation of fungal strains within the UOA/HCPF collection, employing modern phenotypic and molecular characterization methods. In parallel, they actively participate in national and international research projects, provide specialized diagnostic services, and contribute to the education and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as early-career researchers.
